Your Labour Councillor for
West Derby Leyfield
I’ve been a Councillor for West Derby Leyfield since 2023. I live locally in West Derby and I’m passionate about making our community a better place to live.
I’ve successfully campaigned for local roads to be resurfaced, street lights to be improved, a dedicated barrow walker cleaner for West Derby Village, more parking wardens to tackle illegal parking and for more investment into our parks.
We have some fantastic community groups and I’ve been pleased to support projects that bring people together and tackle social isolation.

I’m getting things done across Leyfield, with road resurfacing works being delivered and more streets seeing real improvements.
Aysgarth Avenue is the latest road to be resurfaced, and the results speak for themselves – the road looks much better and residents are happy with the works.
I’m continuing to ensure we’re fixing potholes, resurfacing worn-out roads, and improving footpaths, fixing the issues residents raise time and again.
I’ll continue to work directly with council teams to get Leyfield its fair share and make sure work actually happens on the ground. Where roads have been left too long, I’m pushing to get them sorted. This is about improving our area and making sure standards are raised all year round.
I also successfully campaigned for Blackmoor Drive to be resurfaced in 2025.
I’m thrilled to be funding and supporting local West Derby community groups with my Local Neighbourhood Fund.
Two local groups I’m currently funding are the West Derby Arts Club and the Bat and Chat group.
Both clubs are based in St Mary’s Millenium Centre, Meadow Lane. The Arts Club provides a welcoming and creative space where residents can come together, paint, draw and build lasting friendships.
West Derby Bat & Chat is a local table tennis group, offering residents somewhere to play in a social setting, aiming to help those in social isolation.
Please do contact me if you’d like more information on getting involved in the groups!
No child should miss out on sport, fitness or fun because of cost, that’s why I recently voted to introduce free Lifestyles swim and gym passes for all under 18’s in Liverpool. The scheme ensures all under 18’s can now get a free pass, delivered by our Labour Council. You are able to sign up online at https://lifestyles.liverpool.gov.uk/ or go into one of the local Lifestyles centres.
I also voted to double the funding for our youth services so more activities can be delivered for our kids.
Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is an organisation which provides age appropriate books to children from birth up until the age of 5, I’m using my Local Neighbourhood Fund to provide free books to eligible children in our community.
This fantastic programme helps inspire a lifelong love of reading by delivering an age appropriate book to enrolled children every month.
By investing in early literacy, I hope to give local children the best possible start in life and encourage a love of books from an early age. Anyone who wishes to register a child can do so by emailing me on: [email protected]
We saw thousands of Sure Start Children’s Centres close during the Tory and Lib Dem government years but not here in Liverpool. I’m proud that we protected all of our children’s centres and expanded them into family hubs to offer more services for young people and families.
Our Labour Council are working hard to put more investment into Croxteth Park and it was wonderful to see the announcement that the Queen Elizabeth Trust has chosen our park as its first project across the country.
The initial phase will bring together almost £2 million in combined investment which will see the development of:
- Further restoration of the Walled Garden, supporting wellbeing, volunteering, skills development and inclusive access
- Creation of a natural amphitheatre in the woodland
- A pump track for children and young people, creating more opportunities to be active and build confidence and skills
Local residents, park users and other partners will all be closely involved in the plans. The park is such a special place, and we’ll continue to push for more investment in it.
On top of that we’ve put more funding into maintaining our parks and it was great to see Croxteth Park win a prestigious Green Flag award.
