Liverpool Labour Announces Free Lifestyles Memberships for All Under-18s
Liverpool Labour is proud to announce a major new investment in the health and wellbeing of young people across our city, with free memberships for all under-18s at Liverpool’s Lifestyles Leisure Centres launching this July.
The new scheme will give young people across Liverpool free access to all Lifestyles gyms and swimming pools, helping thousands of children and teenagers stay active, improve their mental health, and build healthier lifestyles for the future.
At a time when many families are facing rising costs, Liverpool Labour is committed to making sure that access to sport, exercise, and wellbeing support is not determined by income or postcode. This investment is about giving every young person the opportunity to thrive.
The free memberships will include dedicated gym and swim sessions for under-18s to help manage demand and ensure leisure centres continue to provide a positive experience for all users. These dedicated sessions will create safe, welcoming spaces where young people can exercise, socialise, and build confidence.
Liverpool Labour believes that investing in young people’s physical health also means investing in their mental wellbeing. Regular exercise and access to community facilities play a vital role in reducing stress, improving confidence, and supporting positive mental health outcomes for children and teenagers.
This announcement is part of Liverpool Labour’s wider programme of investment in young people and local communities following 14 years of damaging Tory and Lib Dem austerity cuts that left many neighbourhoods and services under pressure. Alongside expanding youth services, increasing apprenticeships, and improving parks and play spaces, this initiative represents another step in building a healthier, fairer Liverpool for the next generation.
Liverpool Labour will always put local people first and continue working to ensure every young person has access to the opportunities, support, and services they deserve.
